About

Hi! I'm Jared Wilson, an engineering leader and technology professional working at the intersection of AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, and national security. Currently, I'm Associate Director of Business Development for the Maritime team at Anduril Industries.

Professional Background

I bring deep expertise in digital infrastructure, AI/ML systems, and secure cloud operations from my previous role as Director of Product Management at Spear AI, where I led cross-functional teams delivering mission-ready solutions across classified (IL5/IL6) environments for Department of Defense initiatives.

My work has focused on architecting resilient data infrastructure, managing petabyte-scale sensor data integration, and accelerating the adoption of operational AI in defense contexts. I've directed teams building secure, cloud-native solutions that enable real-time analytics and mission-critical decision-making.

Military Service

Before transitioning to tech leadership, I served as a Nuclear Submarine Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Connecticut. This experience gave me firsthand understanding of complex technical systems, high-stakes operations, and the importance of reliability in mission-critical environments.

I also served as Nuclear Accession Officer & Enlisted Program Manager at Navy Recruiting Command, where I led national recruiting strategy and modernized assessment processes through digitization.

Education & Expertise

I hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy (2014) and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (2016).

My technical focus areas include:

  • AI/ML systems and operational deployment at scale
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
  • Data engineering: ETL pipelines, data lakehouses, and real-time processing
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and DevSecOps
  • Cybersecurity compliance and STIG automation
  • Python, C++, and distributed systems architecture

Personal Projects

Outside of work, I run Homelab Dad, a YouTube channel and blog where I experiment with technology and share what I learn while balancing family life. It's my playground for understanding how systems actually work—from self-hosting applications and running Proxmox to playing with Kubernetes and breaking (then fixing) things.

The goal isn't perfection, it's learning. I document the experiments, the failures, and the occasional success. Topics include virtualization, container orchestration, home automation, network security, and whatever tech catches my interest. If you're curious about how these systems work beyond the marketing slides, this is where I figure it out in real-time.

Connect

Find me on GitHub, LinkedIn, or YouTube. I'm always interested in discussing defense tech, AI/ML systems, infrastructure, or homelab projects.
